Why is land management important?

The word land management is a broad topic involving one or too many subsections. Land management can, however, be simply defined as the process of managing the development of land resources in a given metropolitan area. Land resources always have and can be used for various purposes. which may include reforestation, water resource management, agriculture and eco-tourism projects.

The preservation and management of land results in positive or negative effects on the terrestrial ecosystems. Land being misused can reduce the fertility of natural products from the soil. The management of land resources pinpoints the achievement of sustainable livelihoods and profitable income for generations in the history of mankind.

Land resources have, over time, been a source of food, economic development, and shelter. It is only wise that we hold of high importance the management and preservation of these resources to sustain a stable ecosystem system, and also maintain a better life.

Increasing population and the pressure it exerts on the land biosphere, and biohazard land use cultures such as burning have led to a skyrocketed degeneration of land resources; which has also lead to a vast reduction in the outcome of the ecosystem services the land provides. Land degradation can also have knock-on effects on the marine environs of a place.

Land management helps avoid the above defects of land misuse and furthermore prevents residential, or recreational individuals from abusing land resources.

Aside from the general preservation of these resources, we have communities who depend a lot on marine resources with which they feed and raise their entire clan. These marine products go as far as serving as economic importance to the community. Imagine the harm a disturbance of any kind on the sea water in these communities would do to the residents in them? Due to the small size of the surrounding communities on the islands, any disturbances to the lands and water can affect the marine environment and ultimately come down on the livelihoods of families in the communities.

Let’s take a look at the importance of land management on agriculture. Sustainable agriculture is the process involving farming while staying extremely cautious of not causing long-lasting damage to the farming environs or depleting its resources. In much fewer words, it is meeting the society’s need for food and textile without necessarily compromising the future generations’ access to these resources. From my little knowledge of the ecosystem services, the relationship between living organisms and their surrounding environment must be preserved and recycled for future generations.

If well managed, sustainable agriculture is a long-term structure that initiates profit, fairness, health, and business on a farm setting. Sustainable agriculture is laid on the foundation of social responsibility, environmental stewardship, and economic profit. This sustainability sheds more light on the process of farm practice, the business aspect, and how it affects the economy of a state long-term. Other than on just focusing on agricultural produce.

All these are few importance of land management. Land use goes way beyond your self-interest, it affects life and still will if not managed. Now and in the future to come. Beware!
